Robert E. Engles, Jr, M.D.
Dr. Robert Engles has been a cornerstone of Montgomery Vascular Surgery since 1997. A proud honor graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, he completed his General Surgery training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, followed by a Vascular Surgery fellowship at the University of Florida. Since finishing his training, Dr. Engles has dedicated his entire professional career to serving the Montgomery community.
Deeply committed to medical education, Dr. Engles is an associate professor of medicine with the UAB Heersink School of Medicine. He serves as the Surgical Clerkship Director for third-year UAB medical students and was recently appointed Surgical Site Director for the UAB General Surgery Residency Program.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Engles enjoys traveling the world with his wife and their three beautiful daughters. His passion for teaching, dedication to patient care, and love for his family define both his professional and personal life.

Benjamin T. Rush, D.O.
Dr. Rush joined Montgomery Vascular Surgery in February of 2018. He is Baptist Medical Center South's acting Chief of Surgery and Chief of Staff since January 2023. He is still acting Vice Chair of Surgery as well, since January 2022. He is also an assistant professor for UAB School of Medicine.
Dr. Rush has over 25 years of experience in the medical field. He received his BS in Philosophy from Emory University in 1994. He received his Doctorate of Osteopathy from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 1999. He finished his Internship in General Surgery at Ochsner Medical Foundation Hospital in July 2000. He served as a Surgical Transplant Research Fellow at the University of Tennessee in Memphis from July 2001-July 2002, where he also performed his Surgical Residency from July 2000-June 2005. He went on to perform his Cardiothoracic Residency from Baylor College of Medicine in June 2007 and continued on Vascular Surgery education at the Arizona Heart Institute from July 2007-July 2008, where he performed his Endovascular Fellowship.
He is board certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery and General Surgery. He specializes in venous disease, limb salvage, carotid artery disease, and endovascular procedures.
Dr. Rush is a native of Meridian, Mississippi, and enjoys spending his spare time with his three children and being in the outdoors.

Ahmed Raza, M.D.
Dr. Raza started his journey into medicine in Karachi, Pakistan with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Aga Khan Higher Secondary School in 2014. He then continued his education and earned his medical degree from Aga Khan University in 2014; where he was a Senior Teaching Associate for the Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences until the end of 2016. He then started his General Surgery Residency in July of 2017 and completed it in June 2022 at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C. He completed his Vascular Surgery Fellowship in June 2024 at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. Dr. Raza’s vascular specialties include but are not limited to venous and arterial diseases, limb salvaging, and endovascular procedures.
He has received many prestigious awards such as the Pearls of Wisdom Award for Medical Student Teaching and Intern of the Year Award for General Surgery Residency in 2017-2018. He was chosen as Resident of the Year and was awarded the Resident Teaching Award in 2021 from Howard University Hospital. He was also the Surgical Skill Competition Winner ACS for the Metropolitan Washington DC chapter. Dr. Raza is ATLS certified, ACLS/BLS certified, ECFMG certified, and is also certified in the Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgeries. His professional memberships include American Academy of Neurology, Neurocritical Care Society, and American Heart/Stroke Association. Dr. Raza is also very proficient in the English and Urdu languages.
Dr. Raza is married to Dr. Zain, a fellow Baptist Health provider that specializes in Family Medicine. In their spare time, they like to experiment in the kitchen, hike, and spend time with friends and family.
Destiny Dean, C.R.N.P.
Destiny is Montgomery Vascular Surgery's very first Nurse Practitioner. Initially serving as a registered nurse in our Endo-suite starting in 2015. She continued her career with our practice and went on to complete her Master's of Science in Nursing to become a Family Nurse Practitioner in August of 2020 from Troy University.
She provides a variety of patient care in the office & hospital settings. She performs multiple scopes of practice to include in hospital consults, assisting in surgeries with the providers, Wound-Care, pre/post operative care, established patient care, & Permcath removals. She is an active member of Nurse Practitioners Association of Alabama & Advance Practitioners of the River Region.
